Peggy Bourke (B.S. ’71, M.Ed. ’75 Reading) has created decks of Numbers Are Fun! cards for pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students, with math activities so that parents, grandparents, baby-sitters, and siblings can have fun “mathing” as well as reading with kids. There are 52 cards in a deck and each card is aligned with the CCSSM.
Peggy lives in Evanston, Ill., and has sold the decks of cards to several school districts who give them to parents at conferences. The decks of cards can be ordered on her website for $10 per deck. The feedback from parents has been fantastic. “I firmly believe that we need to make a national campaign for math in this country, especially for early math. If you have a 4, 5, or 6 years old do not wait!” numbersarefun.biz
