Gerry Starsia (Ph.D. ’10 Higher Ed) was appointed executive director of the Curry School of Education Foundation as of February 15, 2016. He served as the senior associate dean and chief operating officer at the Darden School of Business and as a member of its Technology and Operations Management area from 2013-2016. From 2001 to 2013, he served in various roles at UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce, including as senior associate dean for administration, with responsibility as chief operating officer and chief financial officer. He also has served as executive director of the McIntire School Foundation and as a member of the UVA School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Foundation.
“Having spent over 15 years at both McIntire and Darden, I consider myself a University citizen with deep experience developing and implementing world-class programs and talent,” Starsia said. “As a Curry alumnus, I’m very happy to be back at my home school.”
Starsia is the first Curry School graduate to lead the Foundation since Mary Alice Gunter retired in 1994. His initial priorities include developing sustainable and reliable resources in support of the School’s aspirations, building a world-class fundraising organization and deepening engagement with alumni and donors.
